Be sure to remember the following: Ionic compounds are created when a metal+ and a non metal- join.  Sodium + Chlorine= Salt, Na+Cl=NaCl   Polyatomic compounds form when metals transfer electrons to polyatomic ions.   Molecular compounds share electrons between non metals.
