Oculus Rift 3D Dual GoPro

Proposal February 23rd, 2016

During this project we will be using the Dual Go pro as well as the Oculus Rift to make hopefully a really cool virtual reality video. We are really excited to have the oppurtuntiy to be able to work with such great pieces of technology and we hope to make a video that a lot of people will enjoy.

The images are us just playing around with the GoPro studio and seeing how the Dual GoPro works. We also set up the app on our phones which makes it easy to have an idea how the videos will turn out before we download it onto the computer from the GoPro.

This week we uploaded our new videos to go pro studios and we created our first test Oculus Rift video. The video turned out great but it was only fourteen seconds long due to the issues with the go pro settings. We are still trouble shooting this problem and think we are pretty close to figuring it out. The video was of us walking around different parts of the school holding the go pro in our hands. We have been playing around with the setting on the go pros and researching what could be the issues. We tried resetting the SD cards but that had no effect. We also tried changing the video from 4k and thats what we are working on now.

This week we completed editing the video that we made of us playing hockey on the Miramichi River using the Dual GoPro head mount. All of the problems involving the videos only lasting around 10 seconds were fixed when we changed the resolution from 4K to 720p. Once we finished editing our video in the GoPro studios we put the video so that we could watch it in VR using the Oculus Rift or the Google glasses. Once we finalizded our video we uploaded it to Youtube for everyone to see! Very recently we sent a proposal to the STEM fair and now we have to make a presentation to bring and show all the people that attend the STEM fair at JMH on the 30th of March.

This week we attended the STEM fair at JMH. Before we went we did a Power Point to help our presentation at the fair, it worked out great because our class presentations are coming up soon so we got a head start. While we were at the STEM fair we did several different activities. We showed our vr hockey video on youtube to the judges and anyone else who seemed interested using the google cardboard glasses.

This week basically concluded our first project. We worked on our power point presentation that we already had started from the STEM fair and then we made a "How To" video for go pro studios for our class presentation. We edited and made titles for our video using Movie Maker. We are really happy with what we accomplished in the first project and we are both really excited for the endless possibilities that could happen in the seconf part of this course. By watching all of the presentations that our classmates did it really showed us how many great technologies that are happening at MV and we are very eager to get started with something different.
