There will be a free wellness event held on October 1st, 2011 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Golden Hawk Recreation Complex in Miramichi. Activities will include the grand reopening of the tennis courts and James M. Hill Track, a skateboard demo, a tennis demo, lifeguard & synchronized swimming demo, demo by the Miramichi Whitecaps, a healthy barbeque and  information booths. Led by Mr. Hallihan, the MVHS Flyfishing Club has been gaining a lot of popularity and attention. The Atlantic Salmon Journal has noticed the progress of this club, and have featured the group in their Autumn 2011 publication. Please see the attachment for the full article.

Would you like to make a contribution to the 2012 MVHS Yearbook? We are looking for Yearbook Committee members from grades 9-12. Our first meeting will take place on Thursday, September 29th at lunchtime. Listen to the daily announcements for more information and reminders!The first Yearbook Sale of the year will take place in the main lobby at lunchtime on September 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. The cost is $40 for a yearbook with a nameplate and $35 for a yearbook without a nameplate.

Anyone interested in joining the 2011 M.V.H.S. swim team is asked to see Ms. Kelly on Wednesday, September 21 at noon to register. Practices are from 3:40-5:00, and begin on Monday, September 26. Bring your swimsuit, towel and goggles. No competitive swimming experience is necessary.

Practices will begin this week after school, and will be held each weekday, except Fridays.  Practice time will begin at 3:30pm, at the gym entrance, and will be completed by 4:30pm. There are 4 categories and distances: Jr. Girls – 3km                    Jr. Boys - 4km                    Sr. Girls – 4km                   Sr. Boys – 5km Junior divisions include students in grades 9 and 10; seniors divisions include those in grades 11 and 12.

The student council fee is forty dollars.  It includes a student identification card, student handbook, exam booklet fee, and locker rental.  Fees may be paid on Wednesday, August 31st from 9am to 12 noon in the main lobby or during the first week of school.  Cheques should be made payable to MVHS Student Council.  Please indicate the student's name on the reference line of the cheque and exact amount only.

The MVHS Drama Club will be presenting a summer production of Joseph Kesselring's classic Broadway comedy Arsenic & Old Lace August 10-13, 2011.  Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at Books Inn or at the door.  Showtime is 7PM.  Please come out and support the Drama Club.
