Looked at and noted the follow two reading strategies: Inferring- Interpreting clues left by the author and combining this with prior knowledge to create meaning. Analyzing- Responding critically to a story and figuring out the author's purpose for writing it.   2. Looked at the short story "Consorting With Frogs" by Farley Mowat 3. Started "Inferring: Context Clues" exercise   The "Inferring: Context Clues" exercise is to be finished for homework is you were not able to finish it in class.

Finished up lesson on the Origins of Humans. In Class Assignment: 1. Read pages 27-29 2. Answer questions 1 and 2 on page 29. 3. Recreate map on p.28 in your notebook. 4. Read pages 29-30 5. Answer questions 1-3 on p.30   This pass in assignment will be finished up and handed in tomorrow during class.

- Continued in class assignment: 1. Read pages 21-24 and do questions 1-3 on page 24. 2. Read pages 25-26 --> In a half a page, discuss child labor in the Industrial Revolution based on the article you read.   This pass in assignment will be finished up and handed during class tomorrow.

1. Continued work on Conditions in Factories During the Industrial Revolution.   2. Started working on a in class assignment. ( Reading pages 21-24  and answering questions 1-3)   3. We will be finishing up this assignment at the beginning of next class.

1) Started the section "Reading and Writing Strategies" in our scribblers.   2) Looked at two strategies:   ·Visualizing: picturing ideas and images based on the language and description used by the author.   ·Connecting: linking what you read with personal experience.   3) Discussed the difference between a "Autobiography" and a "Memoir".   4) Read the short story "Fishbone, Gramps 'n Me" by Rexford A. Roberts.   5) Copied down questions from Smartboard and answered in notebooks (Individually)   6) Started to discuss answers as a class, will continue this activity tomorrow.

1) Finished up our comparison of the universe timeline with that of the human timeline.   2) We started our detailed look at the evolution of the human species. We will continue this topic during tomorrow's class.

1) Finished up introduction to Industrialization.   2) Examined factory conditions for those who worked and the benefits for the employers of these factories. We will be continuing our examination of these conditions tomorrow.

 Completed the OCA (Ontario Comprehension Assessment) mock assessment.   Class is evaluated for strengths and challenges in regards to English curriculum.
