Today we looked at the elements of a short story and focused in on Point of View. We read the story "Charles" by Shirley Jackson and discussed how the reader's experience would change with a different first person narrator.
Homework: There is no real resolution to the story "Charles". Write an ending for the story, resolving some of the issues (half page)

Today we brainstormed a list of things that we knew about the Holocaust. We then did a quick write on the poem "The White Flakes". We had a geat and insightful discussion about the poem and history. One of the themes in the novel The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is the Innocence of Children. We will be exploring this in detail and depth throughout the study.
