Welcome to the 2013-2014 School Year!

Welcome back to all students and staff.  We are excited about our upcoming school year.  Here are a few important dates and notes for you. PLEASE NOTE – STAGGERED ENTRY FOR 2013-2014   September 3rd  for Grade 9 Students and NEW students Only Students entering Grade 9 or students who will be NEW to MVHS, please report to the cafeteria at 8:30 a.m. on September 3rd.    September 4th  for ALL Students Students in Grade 9 please report to your Homeroom class and students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 please check in the main lobby for homeroom assignment on September 4th.   New Students Families new to our area are advised that a School Entry Permit is required from Miramichi Valley High School.  Call 627-4083 for further information.  Once a school permit has been obtained, please see Guidance for a schedule.  Parents of MVHS students requiring information may call the school between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at 627-4083.   Student Council Fees The fee for each student is $45.00.  It includes a Student Identification Card, Exam Booklet fee, and Locker Rentals.  There will be no major fundraiser.  FEES MAY BE PAID ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 29th FROM 9 AM TO 12 NOON IN THE MAIN LOBBY OR DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL.  Cheques should be made payable to MVHS Student Council - EXACT amount only.  Please indicate the student’s name on the reference line of the cheque.   Lockers All locks have been changed and all students will obtain the combination to their lockers when they pay their Student Council fee.   If a lock is lost, students will need to pay a replacement fee. Sports: Before any student can participate in Varsity Sports, the student must provide proof of liability insurance to the coaches/manager of the team and must be a member of the Student Council. Non-Smoking: Miramichi Valley High School is a non-smoking/tobacco free property.  Attendance: Good attendance is essential for success in school.  Unexcused absenteeism is a serious offence and will be dealt with through noon detentions and/or other interventions as needed.  Dress Code Students are not allowed to wear hats, bandanas, sunglasses, short shorts/skirts or any other inappropriate attire in school.  Cell phones are not permitted during instructional hours.  Skateboards, in-line skates and wheelies are not permitted.    We encourage you to attend regularly and perform to the best of your ability so that you may enjoy a successful and rewarding school year.
