Normally, the ELPA is administered in January and results are available early to mid-May. As you know, this year school districts requested a delay in the assessment. ELPA administration will end today and processing of the data will begin Monday.
Despite the nearly three-month postponement, the process of providing student results will be more efficient due to online administration and not having to ship and scan paper booklets. However, the normal rigorous statistical procedures are required. This includes verification of requested accommodations and exemptions against the record of completions, and review of the electronic record of students who opened browser windows during the assessment. It also includes the normal IRT process to review the performance of the assessment items and ensure fair assessments year over year. Please keep in mind, student results are not merely based on the number of correct responses, but the difficulty of the items answered correctly. This means marking is not automated and the calculations are performed outside of the online platform.
In order to reduce the waiting time for students, results will be emailed to schools as soon as they are available rather than completing and posting the reports on the Assessment SharePoint site. This will come later.
Individual student reports will be available mid-June at the latest with Grade 12 results taking priority. We will do our utmost to complete the work as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience in advance.
