At the year-end Mount Allison annual Athletic Awards Night, Miramichi Valley resident Meghan Dickie was honoured as the University’s 2010-11 Female Athlete of the Year. Dickie was also recognized as her basketball team’s MVP and as a 2011 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian. She was also the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA) most valuable player for the 2010-11 season.
Dickie who led her team to another ACAA conference championships playoffs scored an average of 17.9 points per game, good enough for a third-place ranking nationally.
Dickie is a former Athlete of the Year from Miramichi Valley High School, and a transfer student from ABU. In her first season (2008), she was the ACAA league’s Rookie of the Year. This honour was followed by two more first-team all-star selections over the next two seasons, and in her final year at Mount Allison, Dickie was recognized as the league’s MVP and a 2011 All-Canadian.
A hard-working captain, Dickie is enrolled in fourth-year Arts and hopes to continue with a career in social work.
