Act 3, Scene 1
1.Explain the significance of
lines 16 - 17. In scenes previous, the
Fool’s
comments were to criticize and point out mistakes made by
Lear. What do
these lines suggest about the Fool?
2. List three possible causes Kent suggests for
the invasion of
Britain
by the French. Provide line references.
Act 3, Scene 2
How does the storm parallel Lear’s emotional and
mental state? Use at least two
supporting quotes. How does Lear’s
language when he faces the storm reflect the storm itself?
Lear is beginning to show signs of humility. Discuss.
Act 3, Scene 3
This scene brings the two
plots together. It shows that
Gloucester, as well as Kent is being kept alerted regarding the movements of
the French army. Gloucester is loyal to
Lear and has complete confidence in his younger son, Edmund, who is proving to
be a traitor.
