Check out this theatre opportunity for First Nations youth:   AUDITION CALL FOR YOUNG FIRST NATIONS ARTISTSThe Confederation Centre of the Arts is seeking performing artists from the Aboriginal and First Nations communities for its new Young Company show. THE TALKING STICK will be presented during the 2011 Charlottetown Festival season and will feature 12  First Nations youth, aged 16 to 28. It will be centred in Charlottetown but is open to First Nations youth across Canada.

Kathleen MacMillan, a grade ten student at our school, was recently a featured writer in the Editorial section of the Miramcihi Leader. Her proposal to create a sports dome in Miramichi is in the Monday, March 21st edition of the paper.  Kathleen hopes to continue her work to bring a sports dome to Miramichi, and has contacted the mayor to consider her piece.

The MVHS Boys Hockey Team will be playing the Bathurst High Phantoms on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1pm at the Lord Beaverbrook Arena.  The Friday game has been cancelled due to weather.

Grade 11 English students of Mrs. Krista Cabel at Miramichi Valley High School received a challenge recently. An assignment they were given required them to write a profile about an individual they are not acquainted with, using information collected by means of an interview with the “stranger”. While some students developed interesting and authentic stories gathered from war veterans, police detectives, prison employees and doctors, amongst others, student Shauna Sweeney reached outside the community and contacted her hero, former NHL hockey player Theo Fleury.

The MVHS Drama Club proudly presents Agatha Christie's best selling mystery novel turned play .. And Then There Were None.Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults.The performance on Saturday, March 26, is a special "cheap night". All tickets will be only $5 each.Show dates are March 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, April 1Play starts at 7PM sharp each night.Come out and support the MVHS Drama Club!

The 2011 grad class will be bagging groceries at the Douglastown Sobeys on Sunday, March 13 from noon to 5pm.  All potential grads are encouraged to come out and help with this fundraiser.  All money raised goes to lowering grad fees.

Congrats to Gerald Godin, our February winner of the Ford Drive One for Success campaign.  Gerald was drawn from a list of students who have no office referals and only one day absent in February.  He wins $50 and now has a chance to win a new Ford Fiesta.
