We will have a weekly reading rate check Tuesday, September 19th.

Posted: September 15, 2023

By now, students should have completed their "Let Me Tell You" Assignment. If a student has not completed the assignment, it will show up as a 0 on Powerschool until they turn it in. We are now starting to discuss Heroes which will be part of students Personal Essay/Writing unit.

Students should also have their novel for independent reading and have figured out their weekly reading rate.  To find your rate, read for 10 minutes and multiply the number of pages read by 12. Students are expected to read for 60 minutes at home each week.

Just a reminder that most of the work will be completed during class time, so students are encouraged to attend school on a regular basis in order to have success.

By this week, students should have completed their first assignment, a book talk.  This mark can be seen on Powerschool.

Students should also have their novel for independent reading and have figured out their weekly reading rate.  Students should be reading at home for 60 minutes a week! To find your reading rate, read for 10 minutes and multiply the number of pages read by 12.

Students also should have their draft copy of "Cheers and Fears of MVHS" started.  We will turn this into a final copy next week.

Just a reminder that most of the work, aside from reading, will be done in class, so students are encouraged to attend classes on a regular basis to keep up with the workload!
