Period 3 OP110 will be canoeing the SW Miramichi on October 19 and 20. Period 4 will be going on their trip on October 25 and 26.

Dates have been set for the Outdoor Pursuits 110 and 120 canoe trips.  The 110 class will be canoeing the SW Miramichi putting in above Doaktown on May 21st and taking out in Blackville on the 22nd.  The 120 class will be leaving on Monday May 25 and canoeing the Cains River, taking out on the 26th.  More information to follow shortly.

Touching the Void OP 110 (Value 30)   1.  What qualities did Joe have to posses in order to survive this ordeal?  (Value 5)                   2.  What decision would you have made if you were in Simon’s shoes, would you have cut the rope?  Why or why not? (Value 5)                   3.  When do the majority of climbing accidents happen during mountain climbing?  Why do you think this is the case? (Value 5)                   4.  Are there any steps in your mind that Joe and Simon could have taken in order to avoid this accident from occurring? Outdoor Pursuits 110 Dobson Trip Journal Topics   What was your favorite part of the trip or the high point of the trip and why?   What was your least favorite part of the trip or the low point of the trip and why?   If you were to go on this trip again what would you plan differently?  What else would you bring or leave at home?   How was the food that you cooked?  Did you wish you had more, less or different food than what you brought?     What do you think that we could do to improve the trip to the Dobson trail?

OP 110 students are reminded that they will be cross country skiing for the entire afternoon on Friday.  Students are asked to be at the gym doors by 12:40 PM.   Thanks

To Build a Fire To Build A Fire Questions   1.        Where does the story take place? When? What is his dog’s name? Why is he there? 2.       How cold is it? 3.       Where is the Chechaquo heading? 4.       How is he packed? Why? What kind of shoes is he wearing? 5.       What happens when the Chechaquo tries to stop for lunch? What does he decide?  What happens to his lunch when he tries to eat it? 6.       What happens to the Chechaquo while walking on the creek? 7.       Describe the process that the Chechaquo uses to start the fire. 8.       What advice had the old timer given the Chechaquo? 9.       What happens to the Chechaquo’s fire? What is the problem when he tries to light another fire? 10.   Why does the Chechaquo try to kill his dog? 11.   What happens to the Chechaquo in the end? 12.   What mistakes if any did the Chechaquo make?  What would you have done differently?
