The Student Financial Services Branch (SFS) of the Department of Post Secondary Education Training and Labour is pleased to announce a new web based presentation on student financial assistance programs for NB high school students and their parents. This webinar replaces the annual visitation program and will make it possible for Student Financial Services to reach more students and parents. We will have the date of the information session within the next few weeks and we will send all necessary information in another voice mail. It will also be available on the SFS website at
The District 16 Education Council has announced its intention to study the sustainability of five schools - Croft Elementary, Gretna Green Elementary, Harkins Elementary, Harkins Middle, and Miramichi Valley High School - in accordance with Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Policy 409 - Multi-Year School Infrastructure Planning. You are invited to a public consultation meeting to be held in the main theatre at MVHS on Wednesday, April 25 at 6:30pm.
The Miramichi Kinsmen and School District 16 are pleased to
accept film entries for the second annual Kin Film Festival. All School
District 16 students are invited to participate. Films can be submitted
in one of two categories: Open and The Kinsmen Category (The Communities Greatest Need). The top 10
films in each category will be screened on May 12th, 2012 at Miramichi
Empire Studio 5. Cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100 will be awarded for
the winners in each category.
The 2012 grad class will be selling six delicious types of cookie dough for ten dollars a pail. Members of the grad committee will be taking orders in the main lobby during parent teacher times. Any interested grad can also pick up an order form at the office. If you require more information, please contact Mrs. Hudson at 627-4083.
Application forms are now available at the MVHS office for those students interested in attending summer camp in China this July. All students are eligible to apply as long as they are at least 15 years of age by June 30, 2012. If you are interested, please pick up your information ASAP. MVHS students will receive their report cards on Wednesday morning. Parent/Teacher interviews will take place Thursday (March 22) from 4:00-6:00pm and Friday (March 23) from 9:00-11:30am.
The College of Craft and Design is having an Open House on Saturday, March 24th from 9am-4pm. There will be tours every hour on the hour, studio demos, and students and staff
on site to answer questions about program options and registering for the 2012 –
2013 academic year. For more information, see attached poster.
Orders will again be taken
for 2012 yearbooks on Friday, March 16th and Monday,
March 19th at lunch time in the main lobby. This is a good chance for students
to pay for a book early so they only have to pick it up in June. This is also a
good opportunity for grads to pay now and help alleviate the financial
strain graduation activities can bring in June. The cost is $42. Cheques can
be made out to "MVHS Yearbook". Parents should also know that they can order books during parent-teacher interviews next week.
