  Act III, Scene 2   Read the scene.  In class we used the graphic novel.  Write a detailed answer (3/4 of a page) for the following:      What does Hamlet believe he has learned by watching Claudius's reaction to the play?    
Complete a close reading of the 4th soliloquy.

English 122 is a compulsory course needed to graduate in New Brunswick.  Report cards will be going home next week.  Please  check with your child and review their English mark with them.  A number of students have not been putting forth enough effort and have failed to complete all their course work.  As a result, they are in jeopardy of not being successful this semester.

Act I Scene ii 1.        Which two sensitive issues does Claudius deal with at the beginning of the scene? 2.       What duty has Claudius given Cornelius and Voltimand? 3.       Hamlet has been depressed over his father’s death.  What does Claudius tell him about the death of a father?  What does Gertrude ask Hamlet to do? 4.       Summarize the main points of Hamlet’s first soliloquy which is full of disease imagery. 5.       What sarcastic remark does Hamlet make to Horatio regarding the funeral and the wedding? 6.       What physical features of the ghost resembles King Hamlet?

Based on these, write a short paragraph on the character of Horatio. 6.       Why would Horatio tell Hamlet about the ghost and not the new King? 7.       What is the overall mood of this opening scene?
