Chapter 16 of To Kill a Mockingbird is to be read for Monday. Don't forget to pass in your Jem writing assignments- they were due on Monday.
Energy drink labels (and write-ups) were due today Independent Corrections sheets for your extended narratives are due by next Thursday (to get 5% added to your mark) Signed immunization forms are due back tomorrow (even if you aren't getting the immunization)
To Kill a Mockingbird: read Chapter 9 for tomorrow. Jem writing assignments are due on Monday (I will collect your duotangs for the novel then).

Extended Narratives are due on Friday, November 8th. Narratives are to be in MLA format (typed, double-spaced, etc. We went over the format for name and date in class). Please pass in your draft with the narrative- I will be looking for revisions.   Tuesday is the deadline for your reading goals. One week left!

Flash fiction horror stories were due on Monday (you had two class days last week to work on them). Remember: they should be 500 words or less, and are to be typed and double-spaced.   You worked on the To Kill a Mockingbird Setting searches for the past two classes, and they are due tomorrow. The previous note on my teacher page has the links to the search instructions and the worksheet.   Tuesday is the deadline for your reading goals.

Reading Like a Writer Assessment: Friday, October 25 Today I reviewed how to go through a piece of writing and annotate it for the effectiveness of various writing strategies (showing that you can "read like a writer"). The "Eleven" assignment you started in class is due tomorrow. On Friday, you will be given a new story and will be assessed on your ability to identify and comment on the effectiveness of voice, sensory details, conventional artistry and slowing down time.   Extended Narrative drafts are due on Monday- you will have classtime on Wednesday and Thursday to work on them.

Today I modelled the process for organizing your extended narratives, and had you give me feedback on organizing my narrative. At this point, you should have completed the following things for your narrative: decided on a place to base it on created a storyboard cut up the storyboard rearranged the storyboard in a order you are happy with and glued/stapled it into your notebook started to draft   Tomorrow we will be focusing on narrative leads.   Progress Reports go home tomorrow.
