To Parent/Guardians,

This spring, our traditional Parent/Teacher, which is scheduled for Thursday evening (April 15th) and Friday morning (April 16th) for Miramichi Valley High School, will be different due to COVID-19.

We are being advised by the Department of Education to not have face-to-face interviews. However, below are two options I am providing so parents/guardians can contact me.

The first and best option would be to communicate with me directly through email should you wish to discuss your child’s progress in my class.  If you wish to talk to me directly, you can email me with your name and number and a general time that works best for you (within the parent teacher times listed below) and I will try my best to get back to you. My email is shelley.casey@nbed.nb.ca

If email is not possible, you can contact the main office at 627-4083 during regular school hours to set up a “call-in-time”. Keep in mind, that the office staff might be taking other calls, so please leave a voicemail with your details and I will do my best to get back to you.

Please keep in mind that regular parent teacher interview hours are

on Thursday April 15 from 4:00pm- 6:00pm and Friday April 16th from 9:00am to 12:00pm, and “call-in time” will be made for these hours.

Thank you,

Shelley Casey

All virtual classes can be found using Microsoft Teams. Here is what you need to do:

Step 1 - Download Microsoft Teams on your computer or your phone (it's free!)

Step 2 - Open the app and log in using your student username and password from school. When it asks for your username you must type out the whole username .... example: johdoe54212@nbss.nbed.nb.ca

Your password is the same as the one you use in the computer lab (hopefully you remember this ......)

Step 3 - Locate the class - you should see you class appear as I have already added you to the virtual classroom. Take a look at the different tabs in the class.

If you have issues getting in, email me at shelley.casey@nbed.nb.ca

See you in Microsoft Teams!

All materials will be provided through TEAMS and the ONLINE Course, please contact me asap if you are unable to use either of these two sources.  I can be reached by email at shelley.casey@nbed.nb.ca  or by phone at 622-1589.  Please see below for the current situation for credits.

Good Morning!  Here is the latest information we have received regarding credits for high school students...

Students will be granted a "credit" for any high school course that they were enrolled in at the time of the school disruption.  There will be two different designations on student transcripts for these courses.  The default on transcripts for all students will be "Credit-Enrolled" for every course they were enrolled in during second semester.  However, at the discretion of the subject teacher this designation can be changed to "Credit - Passed" if students actively complete the home learning component and demonstrate an understanding of the outcomes."

The question remains; what will be the difference?  Unfortunately, we do not have any concrete answers for you at this time other than both scenarios will grant you the credit and put you in a position to continue on next school year as if you passed all of your second semester courses and this situation did not happen.

I can assure you that ANY student actively participating in the home learning material that is provided will be given every opportunity possible to be awarded "Credit - Passed" in my courses.
