Today we celebrated Mathematical PI Day in class...videos, songs, trivia, etc...  Also discussed how we could apply PI to the environment and the role mathematics plays in environmental science.

Today we discussed the details of the Biome Brochure Assignment.  Be sure to get a copy of what I am looking at for both format and content (attached in the lesson).  We drew for biomes and now it's your job to complete this assignment before next Thursday.  We also started into ecosystems...

Wew reviewed the 5 different biomes with discussion of what are the characteristics important to a biome.  We also watched a video on Biosphere 2...be sure to check it out if you missed today's class.  Be sure to check out link from NASA on each biome...will be useful for your assignment.HOMEWORK:  Eco-points???

MVHS Environmental Science Animation

Check out Zach Legere's (with the help of Musab Khan) animation for our Environmental Science class logo...
Today we took notes on the organization of life...cell -> tissue -> organ -> organ system.  Be sure to get the notes along with a copy of the notes on the 11 organ systems (must know name and function).  Also discussed ecological organization...organism -> species -> population -> community -> ecosystem -> biome - > biosphere.  HOMEWORK...-  continue working on research paper and ecopoint activities

We watched a couple videos on Atlantic Salmon...1)  a documentary that explores the issue of declining Atlantic Salmon populations throughout Eastern Canada AND 2) a sports show that promotes the recreation of Atlantic Salmon Fishing in NB while celebrating the heritage of the Restigouche and Miramichi Rivers.OVER THE MARCH BREAK...-  continue to work on your research topic (begin comleting graphic organizer #2)-  look for eco-point opportunities
