Today we looked at the relationship between slopes of parallel lines and slopes of perpendicular lines.

Parallel lines have equal slopes.

Perpendicular lines have slopes that are opposite reciprocals (or negative reciprocals) of eachother. Ex. 2 and -1/2 are negative reciprocals.

Homework questions were assigned.

Today we started Chapter 6. In the last chapter we looked at all types of functions and relations. Students should already be able to recognize a graph that is both a function and linear. Chapter 6 is all about linear functions. We will calculate the slope (rise/run) which they have already been doing and using (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) which we also did a little bit in the last unit. By the end of class today students should be able to calculate slope and identify if a particular slope is +,-, zero, or undefined.

Lesson is attached and homework questions were assigned.

We started to review some prior knowledge skills such as domain and range. Students should also be able to identify a function and a non-function.

Sci10- We looked at rearranging equations using opposit opperations. This is another prior knowledge skill that we reviewed to help them with upcoming physics topics. Students had a worksheet given to them that they can practice/work from for homework.

NRF10- Review slides are attached. Big topics are prime factorization, LCM, GCF, expanding, simplifying, factoring. Factoring involves GCF, simple trinomials, hard trinomials, difference of squares, and perfect square trinomials (a shortcut for special hard trinomials). Lots of extra practice included in the slides and a sheet on factoring was handed out in class. Students are asked to study/practice for homework so they are prepared for their test tomorrow.
