Hi, Period 2 Math 9 students!

As you know, we are now using a team in the "Teams" application for Math class.  Here is how to access your "Daily Lessons" and all of the related materials online using "Teams":

1.  Use a search engine and type "office.com" in the search bar.  This will take you to Office 365.

2.  Sign in to Office 365 using your email address which looks like abcxyz12345@nbss.nbed.nb.ca

3.  Click on the "Teams" application towards the bottom left side of your screen (the icon is purple with a white "T").

4.  Once in "Teams", click on the "Teams" button (it looks like 3 people standing together).

5.  Click on our team (Math 9 Pd 2 Maltby Ingersoll - it has a picture of a calculator).

6.  Once you are in our team, click on "Class Notebook" at the top of the screen.

7.  Once your "Class Notebook" loads (this may take a few seconds), you will see an explanation of how "Class Notebook" works as well as a little purple arrow in the top left corner.  Click on the purple arrow to open you navigation panel.

8.  Once you open your navigation panel, you will see 4 folders - "Welcome", "Collaboration Space", "Content Library" and "Your Name".  You will find our course outline and our textbook in the "Content Library".  If you click on the folder with your name on it, you will find a sub-folder called "Daily Lessons".  If you go into "Daily Lessons", you will see everything we have done so far this semester plus the next lesson.  For example, you will see the blank lesson for section 3.3 in your daily lessons folder right now along with the home learning questions for section 3.3.  This is the lesson I'll be teaching to the gold team on Friday and to the blue team on Monday.  Please look at this lesson in advance and and print or prepare your notes before your next class so we can go through the lesson efficiently which will allow you more practice time while you're physically with me.

See you soon!  :)

UNIT 1:  RATIONAL NUMBERS (Chapter 3 in the textbook)

SECTION 3.1 - What is a Rational Number?

Below, you will find the .pdf version of today's lesson on Section 3.1 (Conclusion - What is a Rational Number?) as well as the .pdf version of the Home Learning question (page 103, #24ac - use decimal numbers; no number lines).

PLEASE NOTE:  Don't just give answers - you must copy down the questions first and show all work.

Also, you were asked to explore our period 2 math team in Office 365 using the "Teams" application.  Specific instructions are on the last slide of today's lesson in the .pdf file below.

See you soon!  :)

UNIT 1:  RATIONAL NUMBERS (Chapter 3 in the textbook)

SECTION 3.1 - What is a Rational Number?

Happy Monday, Gold Team!  I hope you had a great weekend!

Below, you will find the .pdf version of today's lesson on the last part of Section 3.1 (What is a Rational Number?) as well as the .pdf version of the Home Learning questions (pages 102 and 103, #14aceg, 16bf, 17ac, 21 and 24ac).

PLEASE NOTE:  Don't just give answers - you must copy down the question first.  When you see fractions, you must use fractions and show all work.

You will also find the solutions to the questions you did on pages 101 and 102 (#5, 6, 7, 12aceh and 13).

As I mentioned in class today, we are going to start posting upcoming lessons for you to go over on your home learning days so that you will have time to practice and ask questions on Gold days when you are physically at school.  I have posted the lesson for Section 3.2, "Adding Rational Numbers", for you to go over which I will teach on Wednesday, September 23.  Please copy down anything you want in your notes and please try the examples on your own at home.  We will go over any questions you may have during class on Wednesday.  If you would like to start the homework for Section 3.2, you will find them in the last .pdf file below.

See you soon!  :)

We had our first big day in math!

See you Monday!  :)

If you haven't done so already, please remember to ask your parents to review and sign the "Media Coverage - Parent Permission" form and the "Anglophone North School District Student Data Collection Form" and return them to me next Monday, September 21.  Thank you!  :)
