Fly Fishing Club

Welcome To Our Page

This year we will be fishing the Main Southwest Miramichi on Saturday, June 5.  I have attached a Word document that outlines all the details including a schedule.  You will need to have yourself equipped with a pair of chest waders, fly rod, reel, floating line, leader, some salmon flies (2 green machines) and a fishing license.  If you are unable to get some of these materials, let Mr. Hallihan know by Friday.  Be sure to check into Doug Underhills weekly newletter for the latest fishing conditions and updates...  http://www.dougunderhill.com/    Tight lines...on Saturday???
This week we will be meeting on Thursday after school in Mr. Hallihan's classroom.  Those students who have not paid their club fee are asked to do so by Thursday.  We will be equipping our fly rods with floating line, tapered leaders and summer salmon flies.  We will be going outside to do some casting when completed.  More importantly, we will be planning our annual trip to the Northwest Miramichi for some early salmon / sea run trout.  All members are asked to attend...   Tight lines soon!!!

Unfortunately due to low water and poor fishing conditions, we have decided to cancel our planned fishing trip for Sunday.  However, with Saturday being May 1st, this weekend may be a good weekend to try some trout fishing.  Here is a picture of a nice trout taken last weekend in Quarryville...

This week we will be meeting on Tuesday in Mr. Hallihan's classroom.  We will be discussing Spring salmon fishing, licenses/regulations and live release.  If you want to switch the line on your rod to a sinking line (used during the Spring season), bring it along.  As well, bring any of your streamers (flies used in the Spring).  We will also be discussing the possibility of a fishing trip to do some Spring Salmon fishing on the Miramichi...

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 13.  The theme will once again be fly tying.  The fly of choice will be the GREEN MACHINE!!!  Many people say that there are only two flies that one needs to fish the Atlantic Salmon - a green machine and a spare one...  Come out and have some fun at the vice.    NOTE:  The ASF is asking all anglers to complete an online survey on "Live Release".  If possible, click on the link below and complete the survey before April 15.  There is a chance to win a limited edition print.  Your input is important!   http://atlanticsalmonfederation.org/
