MIRAMICHI — Annica Collette is many things.
She’s a 16-year-old student at Miramichi Valley High School who holds down a part-time job, a former counsellor at Camp Rotary and a rugby player. She has a passion for social and educational equality and spends much of her time in pursuit of it, an effort recently recognized on a national scale.
All parents, students and friends in the community are invited to the MVHS Wellness Breakfast taking place on Friday, February 15th from 7am-9am. This is a free breakfast hosted by the entire MVHS staff. In addition to breakfast, there will be several wellness booths, draws and entertainment. We hope you can join us Friday.
The MVHS Winter Carnival takes place the week of February 18-22. Here is a quick look at the weeks events.
Monday, February 18th, 2013
Dress up theme: Dress your Best. Students are to dress in their best attire, including ties, suits, and dresses. A minimum of 3 items per student is necessary to qualify for points.
Noon hour activity: The Perfect Posture Relay (Gym). Students are to race through a designed course while balancing a book on their head (cannot use hands or other parts to balance the book). 1 member is needed per team.
Yearbooks will be on sale this week at lunch time in the main lobby. The cost is $45.00 with a name plate and $40.00 without a name plate. This is the last chance to get a name plate with your yearbook. Also, remember that our yearbook is in colour this year!
There will be picture re-takes for grad photos. If a potential grad missed his/her grad photo appointment or would like the grad photos re-taken, please contact me by the end of the day on Wednesday. The student will then receive an appointment time for a later date.
Winter Carnival week is coming up, February 18th- February 22nd! There will be noon hour activities and dress up themes going on each day for your teams to participate in. There will be a pageant on the 18th at 7pm in the main theater, and a variety show on the 19th at 7pm in the gym. The 20th will be a storm day for either of these two evening events. There will be a full day of events on Friday, as well as a dance Thursday night starting at 8pm!
Please note that semester two will begin on Wednesday. Students will go to their semester one homeroom to pick up report cards and semester 2 schedules. An announcement will then be made to move to period one for semester two.
