Reviewed nurtient definitions and looked at a concept map/periodic table that defines the 16 essential nutrients for matter.  We discussed the water and carbon cycles...make sure you get the notes.  Assigned an exercise for the nitrogen cycle - check out notes for HW assignment with the website link. On Thursday we went to the Math/Science Computer lab to work on our research topic.  I have included the library plan that must be completed and passed in on Tuesday.  You must complete the 'Position/Support Web' graphic organizer by Tuesday...you can also work on the Argument organizer (this will be due at a later date).  Reminder that you must pass in your Eco-Point inventories with any plans on Tuesday, April 2nd. We discussed ecological pyramids and looked at some examples.  Make sure you get the notes and refer back to the examples.  Check out the links to possible eco-challenge ideas within the lesson.HW:  Read handout on Energy Pyramids AND bring material for researching your topic at the computer lab tomorrow!

Today we started into some notes on food chains and food webs... will further discuss them tomorrow.  Bonnie Wright and Betty Ward brought delivered our eggs and gave a great presentation on the life cycle of a salmon.  They also told some great stories about the salmon and shared their passion for the river.  Now it's our job to maintain the tank and make sure that the fish can make their journey back to the Northwest Miramichi.

We went to the library to finish up the Biome Brochure that is due on Monday.  Reminder that if you need me to print it in color - it must be passed in electronically by Friday, March 15.  Here is the library plan that must be passed in tomorrow... Today we went back over the notes given before March Break and discussed the progress of the biome brochure.  Reminder that it is due next Monday (good link in the notes to help your research).  We started work on ecosystems and discussed in more detail some of the terms.  We will work on food chains and food webs tomorrow...
