English 10: Today students were given a visualization assignment for "The Sniper".  The assignment is due on Tuesday. One of the themes of this story is that war is unnecessary, especially when we are fighting our own countrymen - our brothers.  The key scene that expresses this message is the end.  Think about this scene and create a visual representation of the scene. This can be hand drawn, pencil sketch or in colour.  If  you prefer not to draw, you can create the scene using programs such as Microsoft Paint, photoshop, or picnik.  The key is that it must be created by you. On the back of the visualization, please write a paragraph identifying how your visualization represents the theme of the story.

English 10:  If you have been absent this week, it is important for you to read "The Sniper" on your own time.  I am including a copy of the story in the web links.

Most weeks this semester, you will receive an Article of the Week.  The purpose of this activity is to broaden your reading experiences into more real-world text.  This will expand your background knowledge, which will help you when analyzing literature in class.  Also, it is important for you to think critically about things that are happening in our world. For each Article of the Week, you will perform two tasks: 1. Close reading of the article2. Opinion response on a question at the end of the article.
