MEMORIAL BURSARY

 

 

The City of Miramichi Inside Workers CUPE Local 3863 has (1) bursary valued at $500.00 in memory of John James Bryenton. The bursary is for the students' first year attendance at any university, college, or community college. Preference will be given to sons and daughters or legal wards of members of CUPE Local 3863.

 

Basis of award is marks, aptitude, promise and financial need.

 

Application forms are available from members of the Education Committee of Local 3863 or your high school guidance counsellor. The application must be returned to the Education Committee of Local 3863 no later than April 30, 2021.

 

Successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible. The cheque will be awarded upon verification of attendance at the university, college or community college.

CUPE Local 2745 Scholarship 2021

One scholarship per region valued at $1000 each are available annually for full time attendance at a Post-Secondary Institution, University or Community College

Those eligible are:

1. Union members in good standing with CUPE Local 2745

2. Sons, daughters or legal wards of members in good standing of CUPE Local 2745

Documentation may be requested

Basis of awards: Consideration will be given to reflection paper, marks, financial need and aptitude.

Applications must be completed on the current form and must be post marked on or before April 30th, 2021.

IMPORTANT

The following criteria must be adhered to:

The application form must be complete and signed by the applicant and Regional Vice President or Zone Shop Steward

Acceptance letter

 

  • Self Reflection Paper

 

  • Last official transcript of marks signed, dated and/or stamped

 

  • Reference letter from a non-relative

Lee Johnston Ltd. is offering a $500 Scholarship to a grade 12 student in good academic standing, who has been accepted into a forestry program. Preference will be given to Forestry Students.

Applications must include:

  1. Completed Application
  2. Transcript of Marks
  3. Essay – 250 Words

Completed applications must be returned to Miramichi Valley High School Main Office by 3pm on May 21st, 2021 for consideration. Prior to selection, applicants will have an interview with Lee Johnston.

The Schizophrenia Society of New Brunswick Inc. offers a $500.00 bursary to a high school graduate who is entering University or College - preference given to a student enrolled in one of the Social Sciences.

To be eligible applications must be received by May 28th, 2021.

MAURICE DAIGLE SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2021

(1) The award is open to students whose parent, or parents are registered growers or have been registered and are no longer required to be registered with Potatoes New Brunswick

(2) Applicants will study at a recognized agricultural college or university

(3) The award shall be announced in November of each year and awarded at the successful completion of the first semester. If the first semester has not been successfully completed by the student, the amount will not be paid out, but will be added into the Fund’s principal.

(4) The award shall be made for the purpose of furthering the recipient’s agricultural education at a recognized agricultural university or college.

(5) A notice will be mailed out in May to all registered growers.

(6) Applications must be received by the selection committee on or before June 30th, 2021 .

Future Health Research and Innovation Scholarship--IWK Research Services is proud to offer The Future Health Research and Innovation Scholarship to Maritime students. The Future Health Research and Innovation Scholarship was created in 2015 for the purpose of fostering awareness in health research at the IWK and to recognize outstanding grade 12 students within the Maritimes who have demonstrated an early interest in health-related research and/or innovation.  To be considered for The Future Health Research and Innovation Scholarship, grade 12 students must intend on continuing their education at a Maritime post-secondary institution (college or university) in a field that will enhance health research or innovation. The student must include a cover letter, essay, letters of recommendation, and transcripts. The cover letter should explain why they are interested in a particular area of health research and/or innovation and how their post-secondary education will help them pursue their research goals. The essay must be written using scientific evidence to explain the specific area of health research and/or innovation they would like to pursue and how their research and/or innovation could potentially contribute to the health and well-being of children, women and families in the Maritimes. The student must provide one Academic Reference (e.g. a teacher who can speak to their marks and school performance) and one Character Reference (e.g. a coach or boss who can speak to sportsmanship or work ethic). Lastly the student must provide their Grades 11 and 12 (in progress) transcripts, and have a minimum average of 75%. A maximum of three non-renewable scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded, one in each Maritime Province. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges consisting of scientist, administrators and members of the public (lay members). Schulich Leader Scholarships—If you would like to put your name forward to be nominated for this award, please see Ms. O’Donnell by Friday, January 15th, 2021. Each school is only able to submit one nominee.

Eligibility Criteria:

·         Graduate high school in the 2020-2021 academic year.

·         Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

·         Plan to enroll in an eligible STEM program at one of their partner universities (View eligible programs at schulichleaders.com/universities)

·         Meet the following criteria:

o   Academic excellence, AND

o   Leadership, charisma and creativity.

o   Strong consideration will be given to students with financial need.

·         Be entrepreneurial-minded and intend to pursue a career in one or more of the following focus areas:

o   Technology;

o   Engineering;

o   Entrepreneurship and business enterprise;

o   Applied scientific research.

They are NOT considering students who:

·         Focus on activism (environmental/political/societal)

·         Intend to become a practicing physician and/or medical researcher (e.g. Doctor, Dentist, Nurse, Psychologist, Pharmacist, Optometrist, etc.)

·         Intend to become a Professor and conduct theoretical research.

Up to 100 scholarships are awarded annually. Schulich Leaders receive $100,000 for engineering and $80,000 for science, technology or mathematics.

A $250 scholarship will be offered to a grade 12 student who is considering a career in nursing, psychology or social work.

 Applications must include:

 1.     Completed Application

 2.    Essay—500 Words—Stating why the applicant is interested in going into a ‘helping profession’.
