Grade 10 Language Arts

Research Essay Class Work and Homework I have been going through all the steps of the research essay with you, and giving you lots of time in class to work on each part with my help. Here is what you should have completed so far: Topic chosen and narrowed down Three sources (articles or websites) found for your topic Articles highlighted with main ideas / good quotations Position/support web Thesis statement Outline (I showed you my example of a detailed essay outline in class. Make sure you have your sources and quotations listed here, as well as topic sentences written clearly. Essays are due on March 10th. Over the next two weeks there will be mini-lessons given on each part of the essay and time to work on the essay in class.   Article of the Week #2: due on Friday

Your assignment was to read like a writer, highlighting and commenting on the following things in the essay you chose: 1. organizational strategies 2. evidence to support 3. persuasive technique 4. things you don't understand   This assignment was started in class and is due tomorrow.
