The Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick (TIANB) has actively been involved in career awareness, training and education since its inception.  In 2002 TIANB decided to develop a scholarship program to help students pursue an education and career in tourism.  TIANB recognizes the importance of the education and training of our future industry leaders and has therefore instituted this scholarship program to assist deserving students with their college education.

 

The Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick Tourism Scholarship enables students to pursue a secondary education leading to excellence within the Tourism Industry.  This year TIANB will award 4 x $1000.00 scholarships, to 4 students, to offset post-secondary education expenses and encourage further education in hospitality and tourism.

Successful candidates must be pursuing a recognized post-secondary undergraduate program of study relevant to the Tourism Industry. All applicants must be enrolled in an approved program or institution in New Brunswick. For high school students, proof of acceptance into an approved New Brunswick program is required. Applications must be received by TIANB Scholarship Selection Committee post- dated no later than May 14, 2021.

To Apply:

·         300-500 word essay, entitled “Why I want to pursue a career in the tourism industry”

·         Most recent transcript of grades

·         *Portfolio, including a resume

·         Two letters of reference

Please see attached form for specifics which includes directions to submit your application.  

**NOTE – Scholarship award winner cheques, will be issued and mailed before September the start of the school year.  The winners will be announced in May 2021. 

 

This scholarship will be awarded based on academics, volunteerism, and outstanding athletic achievement (preference given to rugby players). Completed applications and additional documents must be submitted to the main office prior to 3:15pm on Friday, May 28th, 2021.

Note : Please include the following with your application :

1. A transcript of your marks.

2. A list of three references and their contact information.

3. Letter of acceptance to post-secondary institution.

A $250 Bursary will be offered to a grade 12 student who is considering a career in nursing (RN or LPN), or paramedic. Completed application including responses to questions are to be returned to the main office or Ms. O’Donnell by 3pm on Friday, May 21st, 2021 for consideration.

The applications for both the Local Scholarship & Bursary as well as the M Award are due at the main office by 3:15pm on Friday, May 28th.
 
Copies of acceptance letters, as well as scholarship offers from the institution you are attending in the fall must either accompany the application or be turned into Guidance beforehand.

Douglastown Lions Club Scholarship--This award is valued at $1000.  The recipient must reside in the Douglastown service area.  The selection is based on financial need and character. Applications are due to the MVHS main office by 3:00pm on Friday, May 21st, 2021.

A $250 Scholarship will be offered to a grade 12 student who is considering a career in nursing, psychology or social work.

Applications must include:

1.      Completed Application

2.      Essay—500 Words—Stating why the applicant is interested in going into a ‘helping profession’.

Completed applications must be returned to the main office or Ms. O’Donnell by 3pm on May 21st, 2021 for consideration.

THE AUXILIARY COMMAND OF NEW BRUNSWICK PROVINCIAL COMMAND ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION

Read Carefully and follow the instructions PLEASE PRINT

1. At time of application send only high school marks.

2. Special consideration will be given to Ladies Auxiliary Member’s children and grandchildren; Then to veterans and their grandchildren. 3. Should you be chosen as a recipient, it will be necessary to provide a photostat copy of your acceptance to the University or Technical Institute of your choice.

4. Deadline date return of application is June 30th.

5. If you are successful applicant, a letter will be sent to you.

6. At that time a cheque will be issued to the registrar office of the institute in your name. No cheques will be issued to students.

The Neil Linklater ASRNB Integrity Scholarship was established in 2021 by Aboriginal Sport and Recreation New Brunswick (ASRNB). Neil Linklater of Mi’kmaq and Cree descendant was a student from Miramichi Valley High School who strongly believed in experiencing life wholeheartedly and to the fullest. He loved to play many sports such as rugby, basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, hockey, and softball. He involved himself in any extra-curricular activity that involved helping someone; making a new friend; or spending time with the many friends he already had. Integrity is a trait everyone should strive towards. Neil showed integrity by putting others’ needs above his own and demonstrating strong values. He respected both young and old, always striving to do the right thing without the desire for recognition. That is the beauty of someone who lives a life of integrity.

 This scholarship is available annually to a graduating Indigenous student from across New Brunswick. The recipient of the scholarship will be chosen by ASRNB in consultation with family and must:

·         Demonstrate school pride and spirit.

·         Show leadership in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities.

·         Maintain strong attendance.

·         Demonstrate a strong work ethic in and out of the classroom. Preference to student who also has employment outside of school.

·         Possess a caring personality and shows the importance of giving back to others and their community.

·         Demonstrate integrity and respect in the classroom, extracurricular activities and in

                Personal/family life.

·          Have a passion for automobiles, the outdoors and all things motorized.

·          Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork. This is defined as working hard, playing with heart,   

 and putting team goals before personal goals.

·          Continue onto post-secondary education with a program requirement of at least one

                academic year. Preference given to field of policing/ correctional.

Payment of scholarship of $1000 will be made in January of the year following graduation once the recipient submits proof of second semester enrollment.

Eligible candidates are high school graduates who are sons, daugthers, grandsons or granddaughters of members (or deceased members) of Fr. B. M. Broderick Council 1219 (Chatham); and, who are planning to attend a post-secondary institution.  Applications are due Friday, May 21st, 2021.  Please mark Attn:Scholarship Committee on the envelope.

Purpose

To promote the importance of entrepreneurial thinking and recognize achievements in business-related studies. The ideal applicant would have a background in business studies, demonstrate an adaptation of business principles, and demonstrate problem solving, critical thinking, and leadership skills. This scholarship is awarded to a student, completing their graduation year of secondary education, and preparing to enter a post-secondary institution.

Eligibility:

  • Must be registered as a full-time student in a first-year program of a post-secondary school by September following the school year of applications
  • Must provide an official document from their academic institution confirming that they are accepted for the following academic year and indicating that a diploma or degree is underway
  • Must have sponsorship from an educator that knows the applicant at the same school (secondary school), and a reference letter from him/her
  • Must include a motivational letter outlining your reasons for application, your goals, and relevant background
  • Must provide an up-to-date transcript of their academic records.
  • Must submit a resume.

Value:

$1000 will be awarded to one student in the Miramichi Region (MVHS, JMH, NSER, BHS and Carrefour Beausoleil).

Selection Criteria

  • Academic achievement
  • Financial circumstance
  • Field of study/program registered  (i.e. students attending business related programs will be given priority consideration)
  • Motivational Letter outlining career aspirations
  • Awards/declarations/ recognition/ commendations
  • Volunteer work/dedication to the community

Scholarships - Big Brothers Big Sisters Miramichi (bbbsmiramichi.com)

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS / BOYS & GIRLS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

One graduate from each of the following High Schools will receive the $2000 Big Brothers Big Sisters / Boys & Girls Club Scholarship.

Criteria for selection:

  1. Financial need:  you need financial support to go to College or University.
    Tell us about your situation and include the paperwork listed in the application.
  2. Volunteering – you give your time to help others.
    Tell us about your volunteer work; where do you help out in the community?

You are eligible to apply for this Scholarship if you are graduating from:

  • Miramichi Valley High School
  • North & South Esk Regional
  • James M Hill
  • Carrefour Beausoleil
  • Blackville School

To be eligible for the scholarship you must:

  • demonstrate financial need to go to post-secondary school
  • be a 2021 High School Graduate
  • be registered in a program at a University, College, or Trade School for the next school year
  • maintain a minimum average of 75%

To be considered for this scholarship you must provide:

  • a completed and signed application form, including the expenses and income information
  • a document that indicates financial need (Current pay stub and Line 150 Taxable Income as stated on the most recent Notice of Assessment)
  • 2 letters of references: 1) who knows you personally 1) who will validate your volunteer involvement
  • a copy of your most recent school transcript
  • a copy of your letter of acceptance from your University, College or Trade School

DOROTHY CREIGHTON MEMORIAL BURSARY

Eligibility:  A 2021 graduate pursuing their first year of post-secondary education who has previously been involved in a Mentoring Match through Miramichi Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Criteria:

  1. 2021 Graduate
  2. Must be going on to study at College or University
  3. $1000.00 one-time Bursary paid directly to your Financial Institution
  4. Must have been involved in a Mentoring Match through Miramichi Big Brothers Big Sisters

FORSYTHE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility:  A student pursuing their first year of post-secondary education who has previously been involved in Mentoring through Miramichi Big Brothers Big Sisters

Criteria:

  1. Be a 2021 High School Graduate
  2. Prior involvement in a Miramichi Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring Match
  3. Scholastic Achievement
  4. Involvement in Activities outside of school
  5. Financial Need

This scholarship is to be awarded annually; the scholarship is non-renewable and only awarded within the first year of high school graduation upon written confirmation from post-secondary institution.  This $2000. scholarship is paid directly to the College / University in the name of the student selected.

MENTORING IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility:  A student pursuing their first year of post-secondary education who has previously been involved in Mentoring through Miramichi Big Brothers Big Sisters

Criteria:

  1. High School Grad from a local high school; going on to attend a 2, 3, or 4 year technical program majoring in scientific, engineering, medical or technology fields.
  2. Student most improved in grade 12
  3. Preference for prior involvement in a BBBS Mentoring Match

This scholarship is to be awarded annually; the scholarship is non-renewable and only awarded within the first year of high school graduation upon written confirmation from post-secondary institution.  This $2500 scholarship is paid directly to the College / University in the name of the student selected.

Every year, Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada offers a number of $1,000 scholarships to post-secondary students across Atlantic Canada. Having strong financial literacy skills is crucial to future financial freedom, and our scholarship aims to provide students with the tools to minimize their post-secondary debt and to use credit wisely. Our scholarship opens every January.

The 2021 scholarship is now open. Download the application form. The scholarship closes on April 30, 2021.

Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada scholarships are open to residents of Atlantic Canada (regardless of age) who will be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program in the upcoming academic year. Applications are accepted in both English and French. Scholarship recipients will be required to provide proof of acceptance and enrollment.

Since 2004, we have awarded more than $200,000 to students across Atlantic Canada. Congratulations to last year’s winners!
