Volunteer Miramichi Inc. is pleased to offer a Bursary to a high school student enrolled in a post-secondary program in the Fall of 2020.

This $500 bursary will reward a student who has made an outstanding contribution to the community, without any monetary reward.  The recipient will be selected on the basis of volunteer experience, financial need, and academic standing.

Eligibility

To qualify, student must:

  • Be actively committed to volunteerism; outside of school, and have a record from the organization presented with their bursary application.

  • Be enrolled in a post-secondary program during the 2020-2021 academic year.

  • Have a written specific circumstance, telling of a volunteer experience they have encountered.

  • Have a letter of recommendation from high school Principal, Guidance Counsellor, or Teacher.

The deadline to submit applications is May 4th, 2020.  You can email your application along with ALL of the required documents to coordinator@miramichivolunteer.ca or mail to

The Newcastle Rotary Club Charitable Trust is accepting applications for the annual memorial scholarship. The scholarship, in the amount of $3500, is awarded annually and graduating students from Miramichi Valley High School, North and South Esk Regional High School and Carrefour Beausoleil are eligible to apply. The Scholarship award criteria are modeled on the mission and values of Rotary. Applicants who demonstrate service and commitment to school and to community, solid academic achievement in high school, participation and achievement in athletic, arts and/or cultural activities and leadership skills will be considered favorably.

Applicants must be applying to enroll in a post-secondary institution to start Fall term 2020 to study full time in any field. Applications must be postmarked by July 14, 2020. Application forms will be available from the Principal and Guidance Offices at the 3 schools or it can be downloaded below at:  https://www.rotaryclubofnewcastle.org/scholarships/   

The 2019-2020 Memorial Scholarship will honor the late Charlie Hubbard.

Eligible candidates will be a member in good standing, the spouse of a member, son or daughter of a member, the son or daughter of a deceased member, or the grandson or granddaughter of a member.  Students must have applied to a recognized post-secondary institution.  Eight scholarships will be awarded within NB and are renewable (conditions apply.  Value of scholarship is $800.00.  Scholarship applications must be received by March 1st, 2020. Copies of the application are attached.  Paper copies are available in guidance.

MVHS is allowed to recommend one student application to be submitted to for the Joyce Family Foundation Access Bursaries.  Any interested students are asked to complete the application and return it to Ms. O'Donnell by April 27th, at which time a committee will choose the application to be submitted from MVHS. 

 
 

 

 

 

Greetings from Financial Aid Fredericton and Saint John,

 

Through the generosity of Ronald V. Joyce, the University of New Brunswick has established The Joyce Foundation Access Bursaries.  The Joyce Foundation is proud to annually fund high school entrance bursaries valued at $20,000 ($5,000 renewable per year for up to 4 years).  This support will assist young Atlantic Canadians (preference to New Brunswick residents) achieve their academic goals.

 

. Following is the bursary criteria:

 

               Bursaries will be awarded based on financial need and personal circumstances;

               Students must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program of study at UNB;

               Renewal is based on maintaining good academic standing (minimum assessment year GPA of 2.0);

               Recipient must commit to work with at least one mentor in an extracurricular activity throughout their program of study;

               Bursaries awarded are to be applied against tuition and ancillary fees.

Maurice Daigle Scholarship Fund 2020--The award is open to students whose parent, or parents are registered growers or have been registered and are no longer required to be registered with Potatoes New Brunswick.  Applicants will study at a recognized agricultural college or university.  Applications must be received by the selection committee on or before June 30th, 2020.

This is a National bursary and each club is allowed to send in one submission.

This is Kin Canada’s 100th year so they are going to be awarding one hundred $1000 bursaries.

The completed form is to be submitted to the Kinsmen Club of Miramichi then they will select one to send along.  The deadline to have it submitted to the Kinsmen Club of Miramici is February 1st.  Completed applications may be handed in to Ms. O'Donnell and she will pass them along to the Kinsmen Club.

Award valued at $1500 for Indigenous students pursuing a career in a health-related program.  Deadline is December 1, 2019.

 

To be eligible to apply, a student is required to:

  • Identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit; and
  • Must be from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland & Labrador but do not need to be currently living in one of these provinces; and
  • Be entering Grade 12 in the Fall of 2019; and
  • Have a minimum of 75% average in their grade 11 high school courses; and
  • Be planning to apply to at least one health-related program at a university, college or other PSE institution that begins next school year (Fall 2020) or be able to describe how your educational path will provide you the opportunity get into or work in a health field

The program supports students who qualify academically who show an interest in UBC, but who would not otherwise be able to attend without significant financial assistance. Applications require a description of your circumstances, financial information pertaining to you and your family, and a reference letter. TD scholarships are offered to students who, like TD, help support change, nurture progress and contribute to make the world a better place. Each scholarship is valued at up to $70,000. Students must have a minimum average of 75%. Applications are available to download or you are able to apply directly at www.td.com/scholarships. Deadline is November 15th, 2019.  The application requires an essay and several reference letters.

Valued at $1000.  This scholarhips will be offered to a grade 12 student who meets the following criteria:

  • Student has a parent working at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home.
  • Student is going into the field of health care.
  • Student has financial need.

Completed applications must be returned to Miramichi Valley High School Main Office by 3pm on Thursday, June 6th for consideration.
