Lee Johnston Ltd. scholarship applications are due to the main office by Friday, May 24th at 3:00pm.

Pita Pit Miramichi Community Champion Bursary--The recipient of this award will be chosen based on financial need, academic standing and community involvement.  Applications are due May 31st, and may be dropped off or mailed to Pita Pit Miramichi.

Douglastown Lions Club Scholarship--This award is valued at $1000.  The recipient must reside in the Douglastown service area.  The selection is based on financial need and character. Applications are due to the MVHS main office by 3:00pm on Thursday, May 23rd, 2019.

NB Public Colleges Entrance Scholarship--One scholarship valued at $1000 is awarded at each high school for a student entering a program at NBCC, CCNB or the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.  Applications must be handed into the MVHS main office by May 27th, 2019.

The application attached is due at the main office by 3:15pm on Friday, May 24th.

One graduate from each High School will receive the $2000 Big Brothers Big Sisters / Boys & Girls Club Scholarship.

Criteria for selection:

  1. Financial need:  you need financial support to go to College or University.
    Tell us about your situation and include the paperwork listed in the application.
  2. Volunteering – you give your time to help others.
    Tell us about your volunteer work; where do you help out in the community?

You are eligible to apply for this Scholarship if you are graduating from:

  • Miramichi Valley High School
  • North & South Esk Regional
  • James M Hill
  • Carrefour Beausoleil
  • Blackville School

To be eligible for the scholarship you must:

  • demonstrate financial need to go to post-secondary school
  • be a 2019 High School Graduate
  • be registered in a program at a University, College, or Trade School for the next school year
  • maintain a minimum average of 75%

To be considered for this scholarship you must provide:

  • a completed and signed application form, including the expenses and income information
  • a document that indicates financial need (Current pay stub and Line 150 Taxable Income as stated on the most recent Notice of Assessment)
  • 2 letters of references: 1) who knows you personally  1) who will validate your volunteer involvement
  • a copy of your most recent school transcript
  • a copy of your letter of acceptance from your University, College or Trade School

Only one applicant is nominated per school.  If you would like to be considered, please hand in a completed application form to Ms. O'Donnell by Monday, April 1st. 

 

Through the generosity of Ronald V. Joyce, the University of New Brunswick has establishe the

Joyce Family Foundation Access Bursaries. The Joyce Foundation is proud to annually fund

high school entrance bursaries valued at $20,000 ($5,000 renewable per year for up to 4 years).

This support will assist young Atlantic Canadians (preference to New Brunswick residents)

achieve their academic goals. APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 5th, 2019

Bursary Criteria:

1. Preference given to residents of New Brunswick, and then Atlantic Canada, who have graduated from a secondary high school in the province within last 12 months;

2. Bursaries will be awarded based on financial need and personal circumstances;

3. Students must be enrolled in a full-time (4 courses or 12 credit hours in each term) undergraduate program of study at UNB;

4. Renewal is based on maintaining good academic standing (minimum assessment year GPA of 2.0);

5. Recipient must commit to work with at least one mentor in an extracurricular activity throughout their program of study;

6. Bursaries awarded are to be applied against tuition and ancillary fees.

Valued at $500.  To qualify, the applicant must have a 'LeBlanc' surname, be registered as a full-time student at a college or university in NB, demonstrate above average educational achievement during the last year or study and require financial assistance in order to pursue post-secondary education.  Applications can be found at www.assumption.ca.  Applications will be accepted until Sept. 30th.

Awarded annually, the scholarship is valued at $2000.  The deadline to apply is June 30th, 2019.  

Eligibility:

 

• Current resident of NB, NS or NFLD.

• Current Secondary Student (or has graduated within the past 12 months).

 

• Accepted and entering a Canadian College or University in the 2019/20 academic year.

• Proof of acceptance to at least one Canadian College or University. This does not have to be from

the College/University you plan to attend. If you are selected as the scholarship recipient, we will

confirm where you will be attending at that time.

Qualifications:

 

• Demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to his/her community through initiating

innovative community projects and/or volunteerism.

• Letter of recommendation from your current school, written and signed by principal, teacher or

guidance counsellor (no electronic signatures).

• Letter of recommendation from community group or individual(s) that you supported (no

electronic signatures). If your community project was affiliated with your school, it is acceptable to have

two letters of recommendation from your school.

• Official Transcripts (most recent).

Dairy Farmers of NB Memorial Scholarship--is offering a $1000 Entrance Scholarship in memory of individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the dairy industry in NB.  It is hoped that the young men and women who benefit from this scholarship will become tomorrow's contributors to agriculture in this province. Qualifications are listed in the attached application. Documentation must be received no later than May 24, 2019.

George B. Whalen Memorial Scholarship--is offering a $1000 scholarship in memory of George B. Whalen  who dedicated a great part of his life to the promotion of a more viable dairy industry in NB.  It is hoped that the young men and women who benefit from this scholarship will become tomorrow's contributors to agriculture in this province. Qualifications are listed in the attached application. Documentation must be received no later than May 24, 2019.

One scholarship per region valued at $1000 each are available annually for full time attendance at a Post-Secondary Institution, university or community college.

 

 

Those eligible are:

1. Union members in good standing with CUPE Local

2745

2. Sons, daughters or legal wards of members in

good standing of CUPE Local 2745

Basis of awards: Consideration will be given to reflection paper, marks, financial need and aptitude.

Applications must be completed on the current form and must be post marked on or before May 3rd, 2019.

Scholarship applications will be considered for all three $1000.00cdn scholarships, provided the applicant meets the criteria listed below. *Only one complete application is required.

Jim Stirling Scholarship

B.F. Lorenzetti and Associates Inc. are the insurance brokers for Hockey Canada. In 1996, B.F. Lorenzetti began sponsoring a program for Hockey Canada that allows every Branch to present a bursary to a deserving hockey player.

Delta Fortis Properties Scholarship

Established in 2003 to recognize a Grade 12 student who has had hockey play a positive role in their life.

HNB Academic Scholarship in memory of Ron Bradbury

Established in 2002 to recognize the outstanding contribution of Ron Bradbury to the sport of hockey.

Criteria to apply for an HNB Scholarship:

  • Applicant must have been a Hockey New Brunswick member or associate member in the 2018-2019 hockey season (HNB player, NBIAA player or HNB Official).
  • Applicant must be under the age of 21 as of December 31st of the current season.
  • Applicant must be graduating or must be a graduate who is pursuing post-secondary studies in 2019-2020.

How to Apply:

  • Applicant must send a 300 to 500-word essay (double-spaced) to the Selection Committee outlining their community involvement, as well as financial need. The essay should explain how hockey has impacted their life.
  • Provide a most recent record of academic transcript
  • Provide an athletic resumé (outline sports involvement by year)
  • Proof of post-secondary education acceptance letter

*Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please ensure your application is complete at the time of submission.
