Today we started Chapter 2. We talked about wages and salaries. Students should be able to calculate how many hours were worked given gross pay and hourly wage, calculate gross pay given hourly wage and number of hours, determine how much will be earned per pay given a salary and pay schedule, and determine overtime/holiday pay.Students were assigned questions 1-8 for homework on a worksheet (pg. 60).The lesson is attached.

The warm-up includes examples of what was covered last week. We worked on setting up ratios and finding unit prices. Today we looked at % mark up on the cost of an item, sales tax, and determining a final price.Lesson attached. The answers for homework are also in the lesson so students are expected to show their work and compare their answers. Come to class tomorrow with any questions you have about homework.

Today we started looking at word problems. Students should know angle of elevation and angle of depression definitions and know where they would be located in a word problem. Lesson is attached.

Today the students wrote a quiz at the beginning of class covering everything up to this point (primary trig ratios, solving for a missing angle, solving for a missing side). We reviewed homework from last week and then looked at examples of solving triangles where students are expected to find all three sides and all three angles. They should only have to use their primary trig ratios once, and then they should be able to find the rest using other skills like Pythagorean Theorem and Sum of Angles of a Triangle Theorem.Students were assigned #1-7 on their worksheet to 'solve' each triangle. They will not be able to complete #3 as they are missing information.

Today we continued to practice finding angles using trigonometry.Lesson is attached.

Yesterday students practiced labelling their triangle and finding all 3 primary trig ratios. Today we looked at how all 3 trig ratios lead to the same angle when we solve for the missing angle. Tonight for homework students are expected to choose the one primary trig ratio they will need to find theta, and then solve for the missing angle. All overdue assignments are due by Thursday at the latest!Lesson is attached.

Today we started talking about similar triangles and proportions. See attached lesson.

Today we practiced parallel line theorems. Students were given examples to work on in class and other questions to work on for homework. The warm-up question we worked on is attached. If anyone was not here today to get the sheets they can do any of the practice questions on either side of their long sheet from last night.

Today we talked about parallel line theorems. Questions assigned for homework are from the same sheet as last night. Numbers are listed on the last page of attached lesson.
