Science 10 - Homework was checked and the worksheet on rearranging equations was gone over. Students were told specifically what kind of equations they will have to rearrange and which ones from the sheet match that description. If students are still unsure of how to rearrange the required equations they are to ask for additional help. Students were introduced to some new topics on distance and time and the relationship between them and assigned homework questions (1-4, 6, 8, 9 on page 358) for the evening. These will be checked tomorrow and hopefully followed by a short lab afterwards.   Science 9 - Students were given the answers to their review today in class and then did the recycling for the school. This class may not be doing the recycling next week due to the behaviour of some students during the period. The test on chapters 6 & 7 (and section 5.5) is tomorrow and students are expected to be ready for this test.

Science 10 - Students handed in their rearranging questions worksheet and the homework was corrected in some of the classes. Those that did not have the homework gone over will have that done tomorrow as numerous students did not complete their homework. Students got a hands on demo today working with distance-time graphs. Questions 2, 5, & 6 were assigned (page 365) and we will continue our work looking at the relationship between distance and time tomorrow.   Science 9 - Homework was corrected and students started working on their test reviews. The test will be on Thursday and students will get a copy of the review answers provided they show me a copy of their answers tomorrow in class. The review is as follows:   Chapter 6 and 7 Review   Answer Questions 2 – 5 on page 198. Answer Questions 3 – 7 on pages 228 & 229.   Be sure you know the following as well: ·      What DNA is made of (not just the bases) ·      What parts of the flower are male and female ·      Mitosis and Meiosis   Sections 5.5, 6.1, 6.2, 6.6, 7.2, and 7.3

Science 10 - Students reviewed rearranging equations today in class. This is something that would have been covered in grade 9 math in the algebra unit but students got a refresher on it today. Questions from the textbook and a worksheet were assigned. The worksheet will be collected tomorrow and deals strictly with rearranging equations while the textbook questions cover rearranging equations as well as significant figures.   Science 9 - Students examined flowering plants today in class. This was the last topic to be covered in the reproduction unit. Students will get their test review tomorrow, do recycling on Wednesday, and have their test on Thursday. We will be starting the ecosystems unit on Friday.

Science 10 -  Students had an introduction to the motion unit today. They were introduced to terms, proper process for completing physics problems, and to significant figures. Period 3 did not cover this as over half of the class was gone to JMH for the morning for workshops. They will cover this tomorrow in class. Students were also told that there is a lot of math in this unit and that if they struggle with math that they will need to practice more, pay very close attention, and attend extra help if needed.   Science 9 - Students examined genetic disorders today in class. Downs, Turners, and Klinefelters were the three genetic disorders that were focused on but students also watched a video that mentioned Cystic Firbrosis, Tay Sachs, and Muscular Dystrophy as well. Students were very mature when examining these disorders and had some insightful questions as well. Students were given an assignment near the end of class on mitosis and meiosis that is due tomorrow. They will have some time to complete this assignment in class but it must be handed in before the end of class tomorrow. Reminder of the test on Tuesday.

Science 10 - Students wrote their test on rates of reaction and acids and bases today. We are now finished with the chemistry portion of grade 10 science and will be moving on to the physics portion starting tomorrow.   Science 9 - Students took care of the recycling today. Tomorrow we will be examining genetic disorders. Students can expect a test next Tuesday covering all topics since the last test.

Science 10 -  We reviewed the homework from the previous day on neutralization reactions. Students got their review as well as a copy of the review answers that they can use tonight to study from. All grade 10 science classes will be writing a test tomorrow covering rates of reactions as well as acids and bases. This is a much shorter test then the previous one and consists of 10 multiple choice questions and 5 short answer questions.   Science 9 - Students began examining meiosis today in class. Homework questions were assigned. Students will take part in recycling tomorrow and continue their examination of meiosis on Thursday with a look at non-disjunction and its potential consequences.

Science 10 - Students wrote a quiz today on the pH scale and were introduced to neutralization reactions. Students were assigned homework questions and will have these checked tomorrow. Students will also get their test reviews tomorrow for the test on Wednesday. The test will cover reaction rates as well as acids and bases.  Science 9 - Students had their homework corrected then proceeded to discuss transplant farms in groups. Students came up with some great arguements for and against transplant farms with most of the class siding against the idea. No homework assigned.

Science 10 - Students worked with an acidic compound today in class and attempted to demonstrate that acids are capable of conducting electricity. Students also got their chapter 5 & 6 tests back today and the marks should be updated within a couple of days. New marks will be posted online.   Science 9 - We discussed mutations today with a focus on cancer. Students should have a basic understanding on what cancer is and the effects it has on the body. Homework questions were assigned and will be checked tomorrow before students leave for the spirit game.

Science 10 - Students examined the basic properties of acids and bases today in class. Students learned that the main difference between acids and bases is the presence of H or OH. Tomorrow, students will either be conducting a lab investigating reaction rates (covered in Mondays class), observe a demo of what an acid is capable of (if the acid arrives in time), or learn about the pH scale and what it means.   Science 9 - Homework was checked and gone over briefly (answers are posted for review) and then students took care of recycling for the school.
