Science 10 -  Students looked at reaction rates today and what can affect the rate of a chemical reaction. Homework questions were assigned and they will be checked tomorrow.   Science 9 - Students began looking at DNA today in class. They were shown a video outlining DNA and what exactly DNA is. They were assigned homework questions which will be checked tomorrow in class.

Science 10 -  Students were given time to work on their labs in class today. The final reports are due on Friday. Students were then given their reviews for the test on Friday. Students will be able to work on reviews on Friday and, provided they work through the entire class on Friday, will be given an answer key to the review questions. I will not be in class on Friday so it will be to the supply teacher's discretion as to whether a student gets an answer key to the review. If a student does not work and is not productive with their time on Friday then they will not be given an answer key.   Science 9 - Students participated in recycling today. Students were also given their test reviews for the test that will now be held on Monday. Students are to work on their reviews in Friday's class and should bring other material in case they finish early. Please note that students will not be given an answer key for their review if they are not productive in class on Friday. I will not be in class Friday and have instructed my supply teacher to not hand out reviews to students who do not work on class on Friday.   All classes have tests on Monday so be sure to study and prepare thoroughly.

Science 10 - Students were in the lab today working with the different types of reactions that we examined in class. Students have a lab write up to go with this and it is due on Friday. Students are reminded of the test on Monday, November 15 and will be getting their review for this tomorrow.   Science 9 - Students had some time today in class to finish up their labs from the previous day. We then looked at asexual and sexual reproduction to finish off chapter 5. We will be having a test on Friday or Monday covering chapter 5. The date will be determined tomorrow after the recycling situation is figured out.

Science 10 - Students examined single and double displacement reactions and were assigned homework questions on them. Students will be in the lab tomorrow to get a better understanding of these reactions. The test for this section will be next Monday, November 15th. It covers everything from the science 10 textbook that we have covered to date. Students will be given a detailed review on Wednesday.   Science 9 - Students were in the lab today conducting a lab on mitosis. The lab writeup for this is due Wednesday and requires a title page. We will continue our look at cell division tomorrow in class.

Science 10 -  Homework from the previous night was checked and reviewed. Students then began looking at other types of chemical reactions and were introduced to synthesis and decompostion reactions. A planned demonstation did not go as planned so students seen examples of the two reactions in videos. Homework was assigned as well. Students will look at single and double displacement reactions next week followed by a test after that.   Science 9 - Students were taught by boomerang students today. They will be going to the lab on Monday for a lab on mitosis.

Some students have expressed difficulty with getting information from this website. I post all daily lessons and homework (most days) to the calendar located in the lower left. To access this information click on the desired date. You will be taken to a new window with a yellow pop-up. Click on the title of the pop-up (it is usually daily lessons) and another pop-up will appear. Click on the blue title of this pop-up (again, usually daily lessons) and you will be taken to another page with all the information that has been posted. Students who miss time are expected seek out this information on their own and get caught up, especially if a student has missed significant time (more then 1 week) as it is difficult to get a student caught up on that much material once we have moved on in class.   Parent-teacher is being held on Thursday from 4 - 6 and Friday from 12:30 - 3. I will not be available after 1:30 on Friday as I coach the JV Boys Basketball team and we have a tournament in Bathurst. If you are planning on attending please come before that time. Thanks.

Science 10 - Students in period 6 wrote their quiz today. All students started combustion today and used a graphic organizer to help organize their notes and for taking important information from their text. Combustion is the first type of reaction we will be looking at and will continue with the different types of reactions later in the week and into next week. Students can expect a test on chapters 5 & 6 late next week and are expected to start studying for this test over the weekend.   Science 9 - Students were at work today.

Science 10 - Students in periods 1 & 3 wrote a quiz today on balancing equations. Several students are still experiencing difficulties with this topic and are urged to view the video by following the link on my main page. These students are also asked to continue working on the problem sheet that I handed out and check their answers as they proceed. Students in period 6 watched the video on balancing equations and continued working on their work sheet. They will have a quiz tomorrow.   Science 9 - Students wrote a short quiz on organelles today. Students were also given a brief introduction to the compound light microscope and how it should be used. Students will be going to the lab on Thursday as they will be at work tomorrow and will complete a lab on mitosis.
