Science 10 - Corrected homework from the previous class on polyatomic ions. Spent about half of the class going over the homework and other examples to show students how they act in compounds. Briefly introduced molecular compounds and will go into further detail with those in the coming days.   Science 9 - Covered rockets, satellites, and the ISS today in class. Students will be getting their review tomorrow in class for the test coming up on Friday. Students should already be preparing on their own however and should continue to do so.

Science 10 - We went over the homework assigned on the weekend and I collected assignments from the students. Students were given some time to fix their assignments if needed after we went over the homework. Moved on to polyatomic ions and how to write compound names and formulas with polyatomic ions. Expect a quiz in the near future on ionic compounds and multivalent ions.   Science 9 - Discussed the big bang theory in class. Students took some notes and watched a short video clip about how scientists currently think, based on the evidence they have, happened right after the big bang. Students were assigned individual work on determining the differences between a spacecraft and an aircraft. Test this Friday, October 22, on Chapters 15 & 16.

Science 10 - Reviewed homework from the previous day. Students were introduced to multivalent ions. Students were assigned questions 5 - 10 in their textbook for homework and also given a worksheet that will be collected on Monday and marked as an assignment. If students missed todays class they are asked to read section 5.8 focusing on page 195 as it deals with multivalent ions and how they are written in formulas and compound names.   Science 9 - Reviewed homework from the previous day. Students watched a video on living in space which will lead into human space flight later next week. There will be a test next Friday, October 22 on chapters 15 & 16. Reviews will be handed out starting next week. Students were also given an extra credit assignment if they were not happy with their test result. This must be handed in Monday before classes start or it will not count, no exceptions!

Science 10 -  Students began exmining ionic compounds. Students were given sample compounds and asked to write the name and formula for these compounds. Some questions were assigned for homework and will be checked tomorrow in class. Science 9 - We covered the formation of our solar system focusing on the planets. Students were assigned homework questions which will be checked tomorrow. The test written on October 6 was also handed back. Students will have an opportunity to do an extra credit assignment if they are not pleased with their test mark.

Science 10 - Homework was checked from the night before. Did a brief review of the material covered in the 1st unit and assigned questions from the science 10 textbook. Homework will be checked tomorrow and we will begin looking at ionic bonds.   Science 9 - Completed a jigsaw activity today where students worked in groups. Put the quiz off until tomorrow but gave the students a preview of the quiz so they are all expected to do well tomorrow.

Science 10 - Students were taught about the current quantum model of the atom today. Examples were gone over in class and students were given 5 homework questions. Progress reports were also handed out.   Science 9 - Students began examining the life of a star today and how they are born and die. No homework was assigned but there is a high likelyhood of a quiz tomorrow. Progress reports were also handed out.
