Science 10 -  Students started examining vectors (displacement and velocity) today in class. This is section 11.1 in their textbooks. Students were given some homework questions which most were able to complete in class. Students will continue their look at vectors tomorrow in class. Students can expect a test next week before departing for the Christmas break.   Science 9 - Students wrote a test on the first part of ecology today. Students will start examining natures cycles tomorrow in class.
Review solutions for science 10 physics test. If you are having problems viewing these please email me and I will attempt to post them in a different format.

Science 10 - Homework from the previous night was checked and students were given their review for their test. Some students did not start the review as they were reviewing some earlier concepts in physics. The test is on Monday and will cover material from chapters 9 & 10. The review is posted as a note on my main page.   Science 9 - Students finished the material from the first chapter of the ecology unit today and were given their review for a test on Tuesday. Students will be watching a video tomorrow in class that covers a type of ecosystem. There will be at least one question on their test that is from the video so it is important that students are in class tomorrow. A review will be held on Monday and the test will be on Tuesday.

Science 10 -  Students continued examining acceleration today. Homework from the night before was reviewed thoroughly in class. Students who need extra practice are advised to redo their homework and check with the solutions from class. Students were introduced to speed vs. time graphs today as well. They will be gone over in detail tomorrow in class and students will also get a copy of their review tomorrow as well. The test will now be on Monday to allow students extra time to prepare for the test and for an extra day of review.   Science 9 - Students examined different types of biotic factors today in class. They then completed a food chain as class and were assigned a concept map for homework.

Sciencen 10 - Students handed in any last minute assignments today. We continued our look at acceleration and some classes were introduced to speed vs time graphs. There will be a test covering all material since we started physics at the end of this week or the beginning of next. Questions 10, 11, & 14 on page 388 were assigned for homework.   Science 9 - Students learned about indicator species today and began work on a case study on pages 28-29. Students will have an opportunity to finish their case study tomorrow in class. NO RECYCLING TOMORROW!!!

Science 10 - Students completed their labs today. Some classes/groups were unable to finish their lab today and it will be collected Monday with no penalty. Students were also given an assignment to complete for Monday as well working with the d=st equation. Students should consult their notes and textbook if they are experiencing problems.   Science 9 - Students started the ecosystems unit today. We had a brief discussion on paradigm shifts, reviewed concept maps, and a reading and questions were assigned for homework.

Science 10 - Homework was corrected (finally) and students were shown where they went wrong in their calculations and graphing problems. Some students were able to start a lab where they measured speed in different circumstances and others will do this tomorrow. The lab is due at the end of class tomorrow. Those students who did not start the data collection part of the lab today were given time to start the theory part of it.   Science 9 - Students wrote a test today on chapters 6 & 7 to finish off the reproduction unit. Students will be starting the ecosystems unit tomorrow.

Over the past week several students have not been completing their homework. These students have not been making an attempt at the homework which hinders the process of understanding a new concept, especially in grade 10 science. Many of the problems are practical and similar to math problems so practice is needed to master the skills that students need to solve these problems. Starting tomorrow, any student who does not show a reasonable attempt for the homework assigned will receive a detention. This policy will stay in place as long as it is needed.
