On Friday, we discussed chapter 1 & 2 with "One question/one comment". We also looked at 6 Word Memoirs and created one through the eyes of one of the characters in The Outsiders.
Ex: Ponyboy's 6 word memoir: I don't believe my own lies.
Darry's 6 word memoir: Lost a family; gained new one.
Johnny's 6 word memoir: Scared to walk alone; half dead.
Homework: Create a six word memoir from the perspective of one of the charcters.

We compared slang from the era of The Outsiders with slang used today.
Finish Chapter 2 and make sure the characterization chart is filled in for the physical characteristics.

We have started the new semester with The Outsiders novel study. To get students familiar with the time ad setting of the novel, we are doing an assignment about the different aspects of the 50's and 60's. We are creating a visual time capsule about the hair styles, fashion, politics, family life, cars, music and careers of the era. See attched for the assignment.
