Over the past few weeks, we have been working on reading comprehension with our grade nine students, both fiction and non-fiction.  We have been focusing on topics that we feel are important for teens to be knowledgable about.  One of those topics is the legal issues surrounding sexting - we want students to be informed of their responsibilities when communitating digitally.  So your child may want to discuss some of these topics with you as we move through the mini-lessons.  Report card marks are due next week, so any late assignments owing are due by Friday at the latest.

Today we completed reading comprehension questions on "A Sound of Thunder".  Most students finished in class, but if not, they may complete it for homework.  The questions are attached and the story can be found in my web links.

For the last week, we have been talking about reading comprehension strategies.  Yesterday, we reviewed figurative language and the students completed a drawing which is due tomorrow.  Today we read Ray Bradbury's "A Sound of Thunder" in class.  We will be working with this story for the rest of the week.  If you were absent, please read it on your own time.  I am including a link to the story under the Web Links on my webpage.
