Nola Chiasson from MSA, Sydney Mattchett from Trout Brook Fly Shop and George Routledge from George's Fly Shop.  Much appreciated by all club members!!!
Reports are rolling in that there are bright salmon in both the Northwest and Main Southwest Miramichi Rivers.  It is looking good for next Sunday...
Northwest Trip: June 3rdThis week we discussed the details of our trip.  I have attached the schedule with the meeting times.  We also equipped our reels and tied some flies for our flybox.  School waivers and trip information is due by next Tuesday.  In this meeting we will be doing some draws and finalizing the details of the trip.
In this session we focused on our paddling techniques and how to handle ourselves in a canoe.  We also disussed wading techniques and the safety precautions.  Check out some of our pictures...
In this session (May 8) we discussed some of the 'unwritten rules' when it comes to the sport of fly fishing.  We looked at how to rotate through a pool, how to read the water and how to live release a fish.  We also planned out the details for our upcoming trip to the Northwest Miramichi on Sunday, June 3rd.
Here are some pictures that were taken during the Rotary Youth Conference...both the MVHS and Blackville Middle School tiers acted as leaders in the fly tying sessions.

RYLA MiramichiLast Friday we had 8 club members instruct lessons on fly tying to the participants of the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference at the Douglastown Community Centre.  Thanks goes out to those members involved who included:  Avery Gilks, Micaela Hachey, Brandon McKay, John McNally, Tyler Mullin, Carly Russell, Jacob Smith and Adam Travis.  It was a great event for everyone!
