NB Public Colleges Entrance Scholarship--One scholarship valued at $1000 is awarded at each high school for a student entering a program at NBCC, CCNB or the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.  Applications must be handed into the MVHS main office by May 27th, 2019.

The application attached is due at the main office by 3:15pm on Friday, May 24th.

The Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick Tourism Scholarship enables students to pursue a secondary education leading to excellence within the Tourism Industry.  This year TIANB will award 4 x $1000.00 scholarships, to 4 students, to offset post-secondary education expenses and encourage further education in hospitality and tourism.  Please note that the deadline has been adjusted and all required documents must  have arrived at the address listed on the application by May 8th, 2019.

Lee Johnston Ltd. is offering a $500 Scholarship to a grade 12 student in good academic standing, who has been accepted into a forestry program.  Preference will be given to Forestry Students.

Applications must include:

1. Completed Application

2. Transcript of Marks

3. Essay – 250 Words

Completed applications must be returned to Miramichi Valley High School Main Office by 3pm on May 24th, 2019 for consideration.  Prior to selection, applicants will have an interview with Lee Johnston.

One graduate from each High School will receive the $2000 Big Brothers Big Sisters / Boys & Girls Club Scholarship.

Criteria for selection:

  1. Financial need:  you need financial support to go to College or University.
    Tell us about your situation and include the paperwork listed in the application.
  2. Volunteering – you give your time to help others.
    Tell us about your volunteer work; where do you help out in the community?

You are eligible to apply for this Scholarship if you are graduating from:

  • Miramichi Valley High School
  • North & South Esk Regional
  • James M Hill
  • Carrefour Beausoleil
  • Blackville School

To be eligible for the scholarship you must:

  • demonstrate financial need to go to post-secondary school
  • be a 2019 High School Graduate
  • be registered in a program at a University, College, or Trade School for the next school year
  • maintain a minimum average of 75%

To be considered for this scholarship you must provide:

  • a completed and signed application form, including the expenses and income information
  • a document that indicates financial need (Current pay stub and Line 150 Taxable Income as stated on the most recent Notice of Assessment)
  • 2 letters of references: 1) who knows you personally  1) who will validate your volunteer involvement
  • a copy of your most recent school transcript
  • a copy of your letter of acceptance from your University, College or Trade School

The Wessex Scholarship is presented annually to commemorate the visit by His Royal Highness The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex to the IWK Health Centre in November 2015.  A $5000 award, this scholarship recognizes the important role community service has played in supporting the IWK in providing exceptional care.  The Wessex Scholarship is awarded to a deserving individual by the IWK Board of Directors.

Eligible applicants will be graduating from an Atlantic Canadian high school and entering a post-secondary health care degree level program at an Atlantic Canadian institution(eligible programs are listed in the attached application).  This scholarship focuses on the impact of community service and as such, applicants should be active participants in their community.  A minimum grade average of 80% is required. 

Applications must be received or postmarked in full to the IWK by 4:00pm on Wednesday, April 24th, 2019.

The City of Miramichi Inside Workers CUPE Local 3863 has (1) bursary valued at $500.00 in memory of John James Bryenton.  The bursary is for the students' first year attendance at any university, college, or community college.  Preference will be given to sons and daughters or legal wards of members of CUPE Local 3863.

 

Basis of award is marks, aptitude, promise and financial need.

 

Application forms are available from members of the Education Committee of Local 3863 or your high school guidance counsellor.   The application must be returned to the Education Committee of Local 3863 no later than April 30th, 2019.

The Schizophrenia Society of New Brunswick – Miramichi Chapter offers a $500.00 bursary to a high school graduate who is entering University or College - preference given to a student enrolled in one of the Social Sciences.  To be eligible applications must be received by May 24th.

Eligibility-High School Graduates who are sons, daughters, grandsons or granddaughters of members (or deceased     members) of Fr. B.M. Broderick Council 1219  (Chatham); and, who are planning to attend University, College or Community College may apply. Deadline is May 17th, 2019.  Please mark Attn: Scholarship Committee  on envelope.

Only one applicant is nominated per school.  If you would like to be considered, please hand in a completed application form to Ms. O'Donnell by Monday, April 1st. 

 

Through the generosity of Ronald V. Joyce, the University of New Brunswick has establishe the

Joyce Family Foundation Access Bursaries. The Joyce Foundation is proud to annually fund

high school entrance bursaries valued at $20,000 ($5,000 renewable per year for up to 4 years).

This support will assist young Atlantic Canadians (preference to New Brunswick residents)

achieve their academic goals. APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 5th, 2019

Bursary Criteria:

1. Preference given to residents of New Brunswick, and then Atlantic Canada, who have graduated from a secondary high school in the province within last 12 months;

2. Bursaries will be awarded based on financial need and personal circumstances;

3. Students must be enrolled in a full-time (4 courses or 12 credit hours in each term) undergraduate program of study at UNB;

4. Renewal is based on maintaining good academic standing (minimum assessment year GPA of 2.0);

5. Recipient must commit to work with at least one mentor in an extracurricular activity throughout their program of study;

6. Bursaries awarded are to be applied against tuition and ancillary fees.
